Great Ways to Earn Money Working From Home

Great Ways to Earn Money Working From Home

Many people have a dream of working from home. While COVID-19 has brought that dream to fruition for many, others still have to leave the house to go to work.

Even so, it’s still possible to develop a side stream of income by working from home. If you’re excellent at what you do, you could eventually turn one of these side gigs into a full-time job that suits your needs and brings in enough money to live on.

Offer Online Tutoring

With kids in remote and hybrid learning programs, their access to in-person tutors is diminished. If you have at least a bachelor’s degree in an in-demand subject, you could market yourself as a remote tutor.

You could conduct your tutoring sessions on Zoom and charge by the hour or session. Some topics that are always in demand for tutoring include all mathematics levels, all branches of science, writing, foreign language, and English as a second language.

If you tutor international students, you could work late at night or early in the morning.

Rent a Room

If you have a bedroom, you’re not using or just using for storage, consider renting it. You could have a full-time roommate or set up an account with a service.

Airbnb is one of the most popular options. Keep in mind that some places are restricting these services as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, you could get started with the process now and be ready to rent out the room and earn money when the public health situation improves.

Create an Online Course or Guide

According to Entrepreneur, creating an online course is an excellent way to earn money from home. This way to make money from home works best if you’ve already established a name for yourself in your field of expertise.

Udemy and Teachable are a couple of platforms you could use to place your online course in a widely seen marketplace.

Suppose you have a communication style and speaking manner that is easy to understand and have the equipment and software knowledge to create all graphics.

In that case, you could earn a pretty penny with an online course or guide on a specialty subject that many find confusing.

Build an App

If you know how to make an app, you could create one and use it as a side stream of income. You could also provide your app development services to small businesses or nonprofits who can’t afford to hire their in-house team.

If you’re interested in coding but don’t yet have the expertise, now is a great time to learn app development. With many places shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may have enough free time on your hands to delve into these specialized coding techniques.

Monetize Your Blog or Website With Affiliate Links

If you already have a decent amount of traffic on your blog or website, you could monetize it with affiliate links. These links earn you a portion of sales when a person clicks and purchases from the site.

Some affiliate programs just give you store credit at that site, while others send you money once you reach a minimum threshold. Keep in mind that affiliate income may be subject to local, state, and federal income taxes.

Sell Wares on Etsy, Shopify, or Other Platforms

If you’re creative or artistic, you could sell your wares or designs on one of the many online marketplaces for artisans. You’ll need to be able to take great photos. You’ll also pay a small fee for each item you list, so price your items accordingly.

Some segments of the market are saturated. For example, there are tens of thousands of independent yarn dyers on Etsy. However, if you’ve developed a specialty dyeing technique, you could find a niche.

If you’re an expert weaver, knitter, or crocheter, you could create your patterns and sell them on Ravelry or your website. Some niches to explore include unique jewelry, customized items, and digital pattern sales.

Each of these options allows you to use your skills and work from home. They require a time commitment, so you’ll need to analyze how to get the most significant return on investment.
