Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful sides in IPL History.
Chennai Super Kings is the only team which have reached semi-finals or playoffs in every season.
In one line, when people ask what is IPL, so the answer is its league where seven teams compete against each other to face CSK in finals.
CSK has won IPL in 2010,2011 and 2015 and in 2008,2012,2013,2015 and 2019 they were runner-ups.
CSK doesn’t change many players from their squad. They have used only 74 players in 12 seasons.

1. Murali Vijay and Matthew Hayden
Murali Vijay was in red-hot form when he was in CSK team in 2010 – 2013. Vijay was power-hitter and have played big knocks.
Vijay has played a key role in Chennai Super Kings IPL win in 2010 and 2011. He has scored two T20 Hundred for CSK and his 95 in 2011 final against RCB was best innings.
Matthew Hayden was purple Cap winner in IPL 2009. Although, he was not in great form in 2010. But he destroyed all bowlers throughout IPL 2009.
It was not easy to bowl him in that IPL. He was smashing bowlers all over the park.
2. Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina is second-highest run-scorer in IPL history and is also called as ‘Mr. IPL’. CSK’s most trusted player after MS Dhoni.
Raina has played every game in IPL and is a key member of CSK. He is the man to have scored 350+ runs in all seasons.
Raina is also a good part-time bowler and an electrical fielder.
3. S Badrinath
If the team have power-hitters and attacking batsmen in the start. Then defensive batsman can give them a license.
Badrinath was that players who allowed other batsmen to play their natural game.
He always builds partnerships whenever top order collapsed and played till the end. He could absorb pressure. His best IPL was IPL 2010.
4. MS Dhoni(c and wk)
The only Captain in the IPL to lead his side from IPL 2008 to IPL 2019. MS Dhoni has played a massive role in CSK’s success.
MS Dhoni has scored 4000+runs in IPL at an average of 40+ and strike rate of 140+.
Dhoni has scored highest sixes in IPL among Indians(209) and is the best batsman in death overs.
All-Rounders
1. Albie Morkel
Once, he was used to be the best all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings. Albie Morkel was equal in both the departments.
Morkel used to bowl in the start and could bat anywhere according to the situation.
He was the power-hitter and many times have batted ahead of Dhoni whenever they required quick runs.
He was involved in 152 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket against RR in IPL season 2 with Murali Vijay when Vijay scored 127 runs off 56 balls.
2. Dwayne Bravo
One of the CSK’s most lethal weapon and is death bowler. However, he was known to be batting all-rounder.
But MS Dhoni gets his best from bowling. Bravo is CSK’s death bowler and two times Purple Cap winner.
With the bat as well, he has played good cameos.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is a complete player and a key asset for Chennai Super Kings.
Jadeja has turned the games for CSK both with the ball and bat. It was not easy to pick him in turning wickets.
Jadeja is a brilliant electric fielder too.
4. Ravichandran Ashwin
One of the most economical bowler and best-off spinner to play IPL. R Ashwin was very effective and it was not easy to play him especially in turning wickets.
He could bowl in the powerplay as well and was wicket-taker.
5. Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has played just two seasons for Chennai Super Kings and proved hs worth.
He is an opener bowler for CSK and very economical bowler. Chahar is also a wicket-taker.
6. Doug Bollinger
Doug Bollinger has played three seasons for CSK. He was wicket-taker and not allowed batsmen to go after him. He has 55 wickets in 42 games.
